How your money helps

The Laudato Tree Project is an Irish contribution to an incredible global initiative. The Great Green Wall project will see 8,000km of trees being planted in 13 countries right across Africa.

While the trees you help us plant in Africa will help combat the destructive impact of climate change, we must also practice what we preach. So, as a statement of intent that we are serious about tackling climate change and meeting our own greenhouse targets, your generous donations will also help plant trees in Ireland – a country with one of the lowest forest coverage levels in Europe.

A generous donation of just €20 will help the creation and maintenance of woodland in Ireland. It will also help plant up to 5 trees on a Great Green Wall Project in Africa. Crucially, an essential part of your donation will also go towards training guardian communities to plant and take care of their trees for future generations.

Why Trees?

While there are many factors behind global warming, one of the biggest causes is CO2 emissions. However, one of the best, most efficient and inexpensive machines for reducing carbon dioxide is actually the humble tree.

Amazingly, over its lifetime, a single tree will extract an average of 40 tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

What’s more, for a donation of just €20 (just €1.67 per month),
you can help us extract 40 tons of CO2 over the lifespan of every tree planted.
